BOWTEX Protective Clothing

About BOWTEX Motorcycle Clothing Re-invented

2015 It all started when Robert Souery, the Bowtex founder, passed his motorcycle licence test in Sydney, Australia, and had a taste of freedrom for the first time. From that moment on, he developed a passion for motorbikes and decided to make them the centre of his life. Everything for him would now revolve around bikes. He started riding his little CB250 around New South Wales and quickly became frustrated with the lack of riding equipment that would suit his needs. In 2014 he decided to fly back to his home country, Belgium, to start working on something new, a pair of protective underlayers that he could wear under his favorite jeans, freeing him from the constraints of motorcycle safety equipment.
The very first pair of yellow protective leggings became available in early 2015.

Jump to 2020 after all the R&D Motorcycle gear is quickly evolving, and so is the regulation around it. Regulation EN625 and its norm EN17092 came into play and Bowtex had to adhere to it, as they became compulsory from April 2023. The complete range was redesigned from scratch in order to meet the requirements of this new regulation. The Essential was certified for level A, and soon after upgraded to AA. The Standard became the Standard R, an AA rated hybrid pant and shirt. But there was one more range left to receive the CE stamp of approval: the Elite range which took a whole lot of effort in order to reach the maximum level, AAA. A level never reached before by other manufacturers in the under layer niche. 2022 and High Tech Garments After 7 years in business, the AAA Elite range is now available from early 2022. It quickly became our most popular item with a global rating of 4,8/5. It accompanies all riders from all over the world, providing them with safety wherever they go. The Elite Shirt started off with a bang in 2023 and also received a global rating of 4,8/5. The Bowtex team has grown to 4 people, all of whomare passionate about everything that has to do with motorcycle. From bikes to parts to gear to adventures, etc. Today the founder mainly focuses on the development of new products and on their homologation.

Technology-

Why do we have a CE regulation? Mainly, it's here to help you chose between different type of protective rider equipment. Its main purpose is for riders to be able to get the right gear for their specific use case. Whether you are riding around town, on back roads or on the freeway. Thanks to EN17092, riders can have a better overall view of the real performance levels of the gear they are wearing. Each garment need to have a CE marking, i.e. a label that tells whether it's been certified for level C, B, A, AA or AAA. This regulation is now compulsory since April 21st, 2023. And it's now no longer legal to sell rider protective equipment in Europe without a CE marking. EN17092 is here to test pants and jackets exclusively as boots, gloves and helmets each have their own specific regulation. You might think that leather suits are the strongest thing out there, but it turns out that technical textiles have come a long way and are now able to achieve the maximum level attainable in accordance with EN17092. This new regulation sort of reshuffles the card of what is achievable.
